Slut-Shaming Explained by Economic Model / Discussion About Legalizing Prostitution

Behind the link an interesting view on slut-shaming. Looked at it from an economic point of view, slut-shaming appears to be a seller’s (women) cartel.

I don’t like this view on sex etc. but as an experiment it is interesting.

In the comments I can be seen to defend the view that prostitution should not be legalized and regulated, in the way that it is in The Netherlands at the moment.

I point to a link there: a great post about the regulation of prostitution with which I agree, I think. I’d rather see it abolished altogether, but the author’s solution seems to be not that bad either. Personally, I would be happy if no women suffer and if men would honestly tell me before getting into my bed if they have been to a prostitute. That would at least give me a chance to kick them out. Here’s the link:

Here are pictures of men who solicited prostitutes: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2335372/Operation-Flush-Johns-Nassau-County-DA-posts-pictures-104-arrested-prostitution-sting.html

Interesting to see what kind of men they are. I think we lack vital knowledge about what drives prostitution if we do not know who the men are who fuck these women. THEY are the ones who create the whole situation. Let’s quit concentrating on prostitutes and start concentrating on these men. Who are they, why are they doing it? Often it is said that men are lonely, or ‘it is their nature’, but from a friend of mine…who has been to a prostitute and told me about it, it is exhilarating, the power, like using drugs. It is not like regular sex with a girlfriend, that is for sure.

Take a look at the wall of shame and imagine being the prostitute who was going to be fucked by all of them. EEEEEW! (And that’s just for April and May). I can’t believe that anyone would think that is a fun career or wouldn’t rather be a waitress or something if that would be an option. But presumably there are a few ‘happy hookers’ who would, they have us believe.

Prosecuted: Rice said each of the men pictured was arrested after agreeing to meet an undercover officer posing online as a prostitute and then handing over cash at a hotel room

But take a look at this wording here. According to a male divorce lawyer interviewed for the piece:

Salamone says in his experience, busy professionals who aren’t getting enough attention from their wives are more likely to look for extra-marital sex from prostitutes than from a mistress.

‘These are people who don’t have the time to go out to court a woman or an affair. They can just hook up very easily and be done,’ Salamone says. ‘They don’t have to do three dinenr dates and two nights out and explain that to their families.’

But, he cautioned, wives often profit handsomely if that affair results in divorce.

‘Equitable distribution of assets does not mean equal distribution. The wife doesn’t split everything 5/50, especially if she can prove special circumstances such as a humiliating arrest around the time of a bar mitzvah or graduation,’ he said.

Does he (or actually the paraphrazing author) mean that wives should give their men more attention then none of this would have happened? Those poor men can’t help themselves and are just lonely? And wives who do find out profit handsomely apparently.
Well, that’s just great.
