Notes on feminist news & issues
Sheryl Sandberg spoke up and attempts to get more women to climb the corporate ladder. What she says here is very sensible in my opnion http://blog.ted.com/2010/12/21/why-we-have-too-few-women-leaders-sheryl-sandberg-on-ted-com/ . However, she got a huge amount of criticism. All of a sudden people crawl out of the woodwork that apparently think that feminism means the same as communism, which is ridiculous.
I am not a fan of capitalism, but since it is here it is important that women become big players instead of always the ones who are powerlessly stuck at the bottom of this wretched system. I applaud Sandberg for this reason and I hope the criticism only encourages her, because that is what it should do. Are men criticised for their seat in boardrooms? No, they are applauded by many people, are very rich and powerful, have their own awful magazines etc, so why should women be criticised for wanting the same? Having a vagina does not mean one is a socialist.
